Health Development Officer Job Description.pdf
1 in 3 people, over the age of 65, will have at least one fall a year
Each year over 18,000 older adults In Scotland are admitted to hospital because of a fall. Falls are the most common reason for an ambulance being called to an older person
Contrary to popular belief falls aren't an inevitable part of ageing. Falls are caused by a number of risk factors which can affect a person at any age. Targeted and regular physical activity has been proven to reduce the risk of falls by 30%.
Our Steady Steps programme, delivered by an enthusiastic team of specialist health instructors, uses physical activity to improve confidence, balance, endurance and flexibility – all of which can reduce the risk of falling.
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual who believes in the power of physical activity to join our Active Communities team as a Health Development Officer and lead the delivery of our falls prevention programme.
You will be responsible for the citywide delivery, development, and evaluation of our Steady Steps programme; ensuring it is supporting those at risk of having a fall and empowering them to lead more active and independent lives.
We are looking for someone with excellent project management skills who has experience of leading a team, working with older adults, and who is passionate about physical activity and the positive difference it can make.
Experience of working with health partners and community-based organisations to promote and deliver physical activity programmes for people experiencing health inequalities is also desirable.
In return we are offering the best rewards packages in the industry, with generous holiday allowance and pension. Apply today and you could be changing lives tomorrow.
